Every person has their own foundation, the blueprints from which you develop into who you are as a human being. But what if that foundation is unstable from the beginning? You become divided among multiple foundations and you have to constantly conform yourself into something new?

In the multidisciplinary solo performance The Deconstruction of Aristote Bofunda Gemale goes in search of his own foundation. The playwright, singer and storyteller takes you through his search for the core moments of his life so far, with five experiences that have made him who he is today.

The scenography includes five canvases that symbolize these five experiences. Each has its own form, color and structure. Each time a canvas falls, he tries to get closer to a core of his identity. Finally when the last canvas falls, it is only the construction that remains. Is that construction then the core? A sense of emptiness lingers but also a newfound freedom and hope.
